In this role, you will be responsible for completing medical clearances and History & Physical (H&P) assessments for patients scheduled for ocular procedures. You will play a key role in ensuring patients are safely and efficiently cleared for surgery, helping to reduce delays, improve workflow, and minimize risk of cancellations.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with geriatric patients, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, and thrives in a structured, Monday–Friday schedule with no call responsibilities.

Required Skills
- Perform comprehensive medical clearances and H&P assessments for patients scheduled for eye surgery.
- Ensure timely completion of required evaluations to support efficient surgical scheduling.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests as needed to determine surgical readiness.
- Refer patients appropriately for additional testing or specialty evaluations when indicated.
- Monitor, track, and follow up on test results to ensure all required documentation is completed before surgery.
- Collaborate closely with the Eye Care Department, surgical team, and external providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Provide patient education regarding pre-operative requirements and expectations.
- Work with a consistent and returning patient base, fostering strong patient-provider relationships.
Required Experience
- Valid California Nurse Practitioner license
- National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
- Current BLS certification
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
Preferred:
- Experience working with geriatric populations
- Experience in surgical clearances, pre-op assessments, or internal medicine
- Familiarity with high-volume clinical environments
- English, Spanish desired
