Rehab Scheduler, On Call

The Enterprise Scheduling Registrar (Rehab Dept.) performs all tasks related to patient scheduling and pre-registration of outpatients in an efficient, accurate and hospitable manner to ensure that patient, physician and hospital needs are met.  Job duties include:  Insurance authorization, chart preparation, faxing, filing, and managing the phones.  Engages in performance improvement activities as needed and serves as a communication facilitator for area of responsibility.

Required Skills

• Demonstrated attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and tactfully
• Good English spelling skills
• Good English reading and comprehension skills
• Ability to follow directions as outlined in policies or given by Supervisor
• Computer Skills / Typing 45 wpm minimum

Required Experience

• Must have a minimum one (1) year of work experience in a doctor’s office scheduling patients or in hospital registration / admitting
• Knowledge of Insurance and Authorization process
• Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.;  evidence of continuing education preferred
• Medical terminology or demonstrated proficiency within six months of hire date (via a course or self guided study program)
• Telephone experience with good phone etiquette
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or English and Chinese preferred
