Surgical Hospitalist

The Surgical Hospitalist Physician manages patients through the continuum of hospital care, covers the emergency department for general surgery consults, performs inpatient consults and rounds on general surgery patients while working with an inter-disciplinary team of nurses, physician assistants, dieticians, surgeons, PCP’s, pathologists and pharmacists. The Surgical Hospitalist Physician will act as an expert in providing surgical care and consultation throughout the hospital. Orders treatments, tests, and consults with specialty physicians and primary care physician where appropriate.

Required Skills

• Demonstrated expertise in General Surgery diagnoses: assessment, intervention, surgical and patient care management. Knowledgeable regarding a General Surgeon Physician scope of practice.
• Experience performing and interpreting Adult General Surgery and Trauma.
• Demonstrated experience with Acute Care Surgery preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal and conflict resolution abilities.
• Independent performer.

Required Experience

• Current California Medical license
• Graduate from an accredited Medical School
• Graduate form an accredited General Surgery Residency program.
• Evidence of continuing education and self-development to support license requirements
• Board Certification from the American Board of Surgery
