Medical Assistant (MA) Wellness Visit
Apply Now Hospital Name PIH Health Physicians (PHP) Location Cerritos, California Job Type Full-Time/Regular Job ID 28781The Wellness Visit Medical Assistant (WVMA), under the supervision of a licensed practitioner, supports the first phase of a two-part Medicare Annual Wellness Visit (AWV). Following successful onsite training and competency validation, the position transitions to a primarily remote role conducting the initial visit via telehealth. The WVMA reviews preventive care needs and quality care gaps using approved protocols, obtain and documented patient-reported medications and medical histories, documents findings in the electronic health record (EHR), and prepares patients for the second portion of the visit, which is completed in person by a Nurse Practitioner. The WVMA is also responsible for patient outreach, scheduling, and collaborating with practitioners, Population Health, Coding, and clinic staff to improve quality outcomes, patient experience, and regulatory compliance.

Required Skills
- Successful completion of onsite orientation before eligibility for remote work.
- Uses established approved processes to address patients’ educational, psychosocial, and healthcare needs during remote encounters.
- Excellent verbal, written, and telephone communication skills.
- Knowledge of Medicare Annual Wellness Visit workflows, preventive care guidelines, HEDIS, HCC, and quality initiatives.
- Strong computer proficiency including EHR, Microsoft Office, and multiple web-based applications.
- Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and remote documentation workflows.
- Ability to effectively manage assigned responsibilities in a remote environment while maintaining productivity, accountability, and appropriate communication with the supervising practitioner and care team.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and documentation skills.
- Maintains HIPAA compliance and confidentiality while working remotely.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred.
Required Experience
Minimum Qualifications
- (BLS) Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Other Graduation certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- 6 months of Medical Assistant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Primary Care experience.
- Experience with Medicare Advantage patients, Annual Wellness Visits, or Population Health.
- Experience with eMD Ambulatory, CozevaConnect, or similar HER systems
