Apply Now Hospital Name PIH Health Whittier Hospital Location Whittier, California Job Type Full-Time/Regular Job ID 28283The Pharmacy Technician Manager shall work in collaboration with the Pharmacy Management Team and be instrumental in effectively training Pharmacy staff regarding department processes, policies, and protocols within the Pharmacy Technician's scope of practice. He/she shall conduct ongoing assessment and performance of staff with the assistance of the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor in achieving the desired departmental and hospital goals in order to meet regulatory requirements and ensure patient safety. He/she shall maintain knowledge of workflow processes and routinely seek to update policies, procedures, and job descriptions as deemed necessary. He/she shall work to schedule Pharmacy Residents, Students, and Interns in conjunction with Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator with identified Pharmacy Technician preceptors. He/she shall compile reports and complete projects as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy and/or Pharmacy Operations Manager adhering to deadlines set forth. He/she shall be the Automated Dispensing Cabinet Meeting Chair and participate in other meetings, as well as provide in-services as assigned by the Director of Pharmacy and/or Pharmacy Operations Manager. He/she shall maintain oversight of the Automated Dispensing Cabinets, WiFi temperature Monitoring System, Pharmacy Systems Databases, Strategic Performance Management of pharmacy-related events, billing reconciliation with the Finance Department, and seek to collaborate updates/downtimes/ implementations as deemed necessary. He/she shall be responsible for Annual Performance Appraisals for the Inpatient Pharmacy Messengers, Technicians, and Pharmacy Interns.

Required Skills
- Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician program recognized by the California State Board of Pharmacy
- California Pharmacy Technician Licensure in good standing, National certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board
- Bachelor's Degree or higher.
- Specific knowledge and understanding of mathematical and technical techniques along with evidence of continuous professional training in related field of work is required.
- Advanced knowledge in Pharmacy related technology (i.e. Automated Dispensing Cabinets, Pharmacy Software Applications, Microsoft Office, etc.) with the ability to effectively apply this knowledge in the hospital setting.
- Must possess the ability to critically think, handle multiple priorities in an effective manner, identify and understand issues, problems, and potential for workflow improvement.
- Must possess the ability to manage time to meet project deadlines and follow detailed direction provided by Pharmacy Management is required.
- Possess management skills, knowledge of policies governing the use of Controlled Substance, medication-related policies/protocols, and ability to work in a team environment is required.
Required Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years working experience as a California Certified Pharmacy Technician in a hospital setting utilizing computer applications and knowledge of Microsoft programs is required a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in management.
- A high involvement in pharmacy applications in a hospital setting is preferred.
