Apply Now Hospital Name PIH Health Whittier Hospital Location Whittier, California Job Type Full-Time/Regular Job ID 26465The Emergency Preparedness and Environmental Safety Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and continuous improvementof emergency preparedness and environment safety programs across PIH Health Physicians (PHP) ambulatory MOBs.This role ensures a safe, secure, and regulatory-compliant environment across all PHP MOBs.
The coordinator partners closely with PHP group operational leadership and the RN Clinical Director of Education to align policies, procedures, and training with federal, state, and local regulations. Program elements include but are not limited to: emergency preparedness and business continuity planning, hazardous waste management, medical waste management, workplace violence prevention, life safety compliance, and environment of care rounds.

Required Experience
Required Experience:
·Knowledge of the Clinic/Hospital/Healthcare Incident Command System (HICS/ICS) structure
·Experience with the coordination of mitigation, planning, response, and recovery processes associated with healthcare emergency management
- Two years of experience in Environment of Care in a health care setting (ambulatory preferred).
- Valid California Driver’s License, access to an automobile, and state-required auto liability coverage.
- Experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Preferred Experience:
·Three years of professional experience in emergency management/disaster preparedness or related field (environmental safety, public safety, emergency department, or risk management)
Hospital Disaster Management Training (HDMT)
·Experience with Los Angeles County Hospital Preparedness Program/Assistant Secretary of Preparedness and Response (HPP/ASPR) audits and Homeland Security Audits
·Hazardous Materials Courses
·Familiar with CMS environment of care and life safety standards in ambulatory care.
Required Certifications:
·ICS 100, 200 and 700 courses
·ICS 800 (within 6 months of hire)
- Hazardous Materials certification (within 6 months of hire)
·Los Angeles County approved decontamination training (within 6 months of hire)
·HPP Orientation conducted by the EMS Agency (within one year of hire)
·Workplace Violence Instructor certificate within 6 months of hire
Preferred Certifications:
•Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) Certification
•Certified Emergency Management (CEM) Certification
•Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP)
•Certified Healthcare Emergency Professional (CHEP)
•Certificate of Completion in CIHQ Physical Environment
