Required Skills
- Knowledge and experience in testing suppression systems and special extinguishing systems such as Halon and FM-200.
- Strong communication skills; excellent telephone manner; strong English and grammar skills.
- Strong organizational skills; detail oriented; accurate.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, and under the pressure of deadlines.
- Strong knowledge and experience with testing complex fire alarm system, smoke management system, emergency power system, and water delivery systems.
- Strong background in servicing and troubleshooting Fire/Life Safety Systems and their components, specifically (Edwards EST-3)
Required Experience
Required:
- High School, GED or trade school graduate preferred with courses in arithmetic, mathematics, and electricity.
- Minimum one (3) year of experience in fire life safety inspections and testing.
- Demonstrate competence in electrical mechanical and fire life safety equipment.
- Valid California Driver’s License and automobile insurance.
- LA City Fire Card within six (6) months of employment (PHGSH only)
Preferred:
- Hospital experience
- Intermediate level computer skills; specifically in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to read blueprints and sequence of operations.
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 72 and NFPA 25.
- Ability to operate all types of Fire Alarm Systems which will also include the disabling of these systems.
- EST-3 Certified.
- NICET Certified (Level 2 or currently in process).
- Los Angeles Chief’s Regulation 4 Certificate of Fitness or currently in process (in one or more categories).
