Position Summary:
The PR Surgical Physician Assistant works in the operating room with the supervising physician and team to ensure patient safety, maintaining a sterile environment and supporting surgical teams across various specialties. Responsibilities include surgery preparation, setup and providing real-time assistance during procedures.This role requires excellent clinical skills, the ability to make critical decisions and a strong commitment to patient care in high-pressure situations.Assists with robotic surgeries, gynecology (GYN), general surgical cases, minimally invasive procedures, and ENT (ear, nose and throat) surgeries, as well as other service lines that require Physician Assistance (PA).
Required Skills
- Demonstrated strong clinical knowledge, technical expertise and the ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses and other medical staff in a fast paced environment.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience assisting in surgeries, focusing on robotic (Da Vinci), general, GYN, minimally invasive, and ENT procedures.
- Knowledgeable regarding Surgical PA scope of practice.
- Able to perform duties as first assist in surgery.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal and conflict resolution abilities.
- Independent performer.
Required Experience
- Current California Physician Assistant license
- Current Basic Life Support Certification
- Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant School
- One to three (1-3) years direct patient care clinical experience in operating room.
- Evidence of continuing education and self-development to support license requirements
- Board Certification: Board certified or board eligible
