Systems Engineer - Senior

The Senior Systems Engineer manages, defines, designs, and develops infrastructure system requirements.Performs trade-off analyses of performance, life-cycle cost, risk, and other infrastructure requirements.Assesses architecture and current hardware limitations, defines and designs system specifications, and evaluates working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.Defines system support requirements.Analyzes and resolves infrastructure support deficiencies.Conducts independent technical investigations in architecture design.Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. Performs engineering studies and analyzes infrastructure in support of system implementation solutions. Conducts new infrastructure technologies assessments, network architecture project planning, etc.

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP and MPLS.
  • Expertise in network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and proxy servers.
  • Experience in designing and implementing complex network architectures that align with business needs.
  • Strong understanding of scalable Data Center network design principles for high availability and performance.
  • Proficiency in implementing and maintaining network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and access control policies.
  • Proficient with network design architectures including Cisco DNA and Cisco Identity Services.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and their core services (compute, storage, networking, databases).
  • Advanced understanding of cloud architecture concepts, including virtualization, containers, and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM).
  • Knowledge of security measures for data center and cloud environments.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and methodologies for data center and cloud environments.
  • Advanced skills in analyzing performance metrics and optimizing infrastructure for efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of data backup strategies and experience with disaster recovery planning.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct root cause analysis and implement effective solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., SolarWinds).
  • Solid expertise in network operating systems (e.g., Cisco IOS).
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining detailed network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and presentations for management on network performance, project status, and improvement recommendations.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and promptly respond to critical incidents during non-business hours including nights and during weekends.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with emerging network technologies and industry trends.

Required Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 10 years of relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • 7 to 10 years of experience as a Network Engineer or Systems Engineer.
  • Masters degree and 4 years’ experience in lieu of 7-10 of experience

Preferred:

  • Certifications preferred (Cisco, VMware, Microsoft, Linux, IBM)
